What your host will tell you
Staying in the centre is only half of it. The other half is knowing where to eat for four dollars, which metro station is worth the detour and which fruit row at the bazaar is the sweet one. That knowledge comes with the keys, and none of it costs anything.
The first metro in Central Asia
Tashkent opened its metro in 1977, the first in the region, and built the stations like public halls: chandeliers, carved marble, cosmonaut mosaics and domed ceilings thirty metres underground. Cosmonauts, Minor, Toshkent, Pakhtakor and Alisher Navoi are the ones worth the detour. Photography and filming were officially permitted from 1 June 2018, which is why almost nobody outside the country has seen them, and why the mosaic stations are a stop on our tour around Tashkent.
Besh Qozon, where pilaf is made by the tonne
Pilaf is the national dish and the Central Asian Pilaf Centre, known to everyone here as Besh Qozon, is where it happens at scale: roughly one and a half tonnes cooked in a single day, in open kazans wide enough to stand in. Go before one in the afternoon, because when the kazan is finished it is finished. We will tell you what else to order alongside it, and it is the lunch stop on our full-day tour around Tashkent, with Chorsu bazaar on the same route.
Bazaars, fruit and what to actually buy
Uzbek fruit is the thing guests write to us about afterwards — melons, apricots, grapes and figs that taste nothing like the supermarket version at home. We will tell you which markets are worth the trip, which rows inside them sell the sweet stuff rather than the photogenic stuff, roughly what things should cost, and how to get there and back on the metro without a taxi.
An owner who actually answers
The apartment is hosted by its owner, not by an agency with a call centre. Ask about a good, inexpensive restaurant near the flat and you get a name rather than a search link; ask about the national dishes and you get an order of what to try first. Questions about the country are welcome too — Uzbekistan is a big part of Central Asia and most guests leave knowing considerably more about it than they arrived with.
The Tian Shan, ninety minutes away
The Tashkent region runs straight into the Western Tian Shan: Amirsoy, Greater Chimgan, the turquoise Charvak reservoir and a 2,290-metre cable line that lifts you above the tree line. These are the places locals actually go at the weekend, and they are close enough that a mountain day starts after breakfast and ends before dinner.
Airport transfers around the clock
Most flights into Tashkent land between two and five in the morning. The transfer runs at whatever hour you arrive — from the terminal to the apartment door, back again when you leave, and out to the mountains or the sights of the city on any day in between. Same car, same driver, no surcharge for a night arrival.
Booking takes about four minutes
There is no form on this page, no account to create and no card to enter. The whole thing happens in one WhatsApp thread with the person who owns the keys.
Send us your dates
Tap any booking button and WhatsApp opens with the apartment already named. Tell us the dates, how many of you there are and roughly when you land. We answer with real availability, the total price and the exact address. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00; if you need to arrive earlier or leave later, ask before you book rather than after, because it depends on the guests either side of you.We confirm and hold it
Once you say yes the apartment comes off the calendar. No deposit is required, no card is charged, and if your plans change you tell us in the same thread. We will also ask whether you want a driver waiting at the airport and whether you have a mountain day in mind.Check in from 14:00
Check-in runs from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00. Tell us your exact arrival time and a member of our staff meets you at the apartment, or you let yourself in with the key from the mini-safe if you would rather not wait for anyone — we send the entrance code and a photo of the door on the day. If you land on a night flight, send the flight number when you book and we will tell you whether the apartment can be ready before 14:00.
Frequently asked questions
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00. Most flights into Tashkent land between 02:00 and 05:00, so send us your flight number when you book: when the apartment is free the night before we can usually let you in early, and when it is not we tell you in advance instead of leaving you to find out at the door. Early check-in and late check-out depend on the guests either side of you, which is why we agree them before the booking rather than after. Once the apartment is ready you can let yourself in with the key from the mini-safe if you would rather not wait for anyone.
Two nights is our minimum in high season and one night the rest of the year. Stays over a week get a reduced nightly rate, and monthly stays are priced separately — tell us your dates on WhatsApp and we will quote you directly.
Both apartments are inside the true centre of Tashkent, and both are a few minutes on foot from a metro station — 150 metres from Cosmonauts station for the Cosmonauts apartment, 200 metres from Minor for the one on Amir Temur Avenue. Shops, cafes, restaurants and public transport are on the same block as each entrance, and the museums, parks and the Broadway pedestrian street are a five to ten minute walk. You will not need a taxi to reach the places you came to see.
